Illinois requires a minimum of 20 hours of prelicensing education for each line of authority; 7.5 of the 20 hours must be taken in a live online or live onsite classroom setting.
To adequately prepare for the licensing exam and earn your Certificate of Completion, licensing candidates must:
- Prior to attending the class, self-study the entire course (a minimum 12.5 hours per line-of-authority).
- Attend the required 7.5 hours per line-of-authority live classroom education.
- Complete a Certification Exam per line-of authority with a passing score of 70% or higher.
Please be aware the 7.5 hour live classroom education is fast paced and is meant to reinforce specific exam topics. The classroom education will cover as much of the testable topics as possible in the allotted time. Candidates will need the combination of both the minimum 12.5 hours of self-study and the 7.5 hours of classroom education to be adequately prepared to take the state exam.
