For CE courses for CFP® certification renewal, you will be charged an additional fee of $.60 per credit hour associated with reporting your hours to CFP Board. You will be charged the appropriate fee before you attempt the CE course's final exam.
Financial Planning CE Library FAQs
The College designations require 16 CE credits every two years.
Currently, CFP® certification requires 30 hours of CE every two years, including 2 hours of Ethics CE. Beginning with renewal cycles that start after Q1 2027, this increases to 40 hours every two years—38 hours of General CE and 2 hours of Ethics CE. The change is not retroactive and only applies to cycles beginning on or after the effective date.

Starting with renewal cycles beginning after Q4 2027, CFP Board will allow up to 10 excess General CE hours to carry over into your next 2-year cycle (Ethics CE hours cannot be carried over). The CE Library's expanded course selection is designed to make it easy to bank extra hours toward this rollover.
If your 2-year renewal cycle begins before the Q4 2027 effective date, the current 30-hour requirement still applies to that cycle. The new 40-hour requirement only applies once your first full cycle beginning on or after Q4 2027 starts.
Yes. There are courses within the Financial Planning CE Library that are applicable toward both CFP Board's CE requirement and the College's professional designation CE requirements, so you can fulfill both with a single subscription.
The College reports CE credit directly to CFP Board within 7 days of successfully completing a course, provided your Social Security number's last four digits or CFP Board ID is on file. You will be charged an additional fee of $.60 per credit hour associated with reporting your hours to CFP Board. You will be charged the appropriate fee before you attempt the CE course's final exam.
You need 70% or higher on the end-of-course assessment, with two attempts allowed. If the second attempt is unsuccessful, the course must be repurchased.
You have 1-year access to the Financial Planning CE Library from your purchase/enrollment date. Downloading materials is recommended in case access lapses.
