The Securities Industry Essentials® (SIE®) exam is a FINRA® exam for prospective securities industry professionals. This introductory-level exam assesses your knowledge of basic securities industry information, including concepts fundamental to working in the industry. The SIE exam is open to anyone 18 or older, including students and prospective candidates interested in demonstrating basic industry knowledge to potential employers. Association with a firm is not required.
The Series 24 exam, also known as the General Securities Principal Qualification Exam, is a FINRA exam that qualifies you to supervise and manage the general securities business of a broker-dealer. It assesses the competency of entry-level principals and is a requirement for managing branch activities at a broker-dealer. The exam is designed to ensure that you are qualified to supervise activities like trading, market-making, advertising, and underwriting. You must pass the Securities Industry Essentials® (SIE®) exam and the Series 24 exam to obtain the General Securities Representative registration.
