Effective risk management is a critical element underlying the success or failure of many depository institutions. However, derivatives are a complex topic, and the accounting can be difficult to apply. This seminar, sponsored by Kaplan and Hedgestar, will give an overview of derivatives, with guidance asset liability management, derivative accounting, accounting for hedging transactions, as well as a variety of special topics, including mortgage pipeline hedging, servicing rights hedging, and dollar roll financing. Specifically, this seminar explains:

  • How Asset Liability Management plays a crucial role in running your instritution
  • How to accurately account for the various types of derivative instruments
  • How to apply hedge accounting
