Behavioral Financial Advice (BFA) Program

Kaplan and think2perform’s Behavioral Financial Advice (BFA) program, comprised of two online courses, is exactly what financial professionals need to set themselves apart.

Graduates of the BFA program will be eligible to sit for the BFA Certification exam. Upon passing the exam, students will become a Behavioral Financial Advisor™ and are eligible to use the designation when liaising with clients.

BFA Course & Topics

Course 1: Behavioral Financial Advice and You

Course 2: Behavioral Financial Advice and Your Clients

  • Using the Alignment Model
  • Teaching the Smart Money Philosophy
  • Applying to Your Practice
  • Competency Development Using the 4Rs
  • The Six Behavioral Competencies

Each course is designed to be completed in approximately 60 days or 20 to 30 hours. An average of 3.5 hours of coursework per week prepares students to complete the program in 120 days. After completion of the BFA program, students can pass an online Certification Exam to become a Behavioral Financial Advisor™. Certification Exam is $75 as add-on with full BFA Program or $99 a la carte - call to order.

Continuing Education

BFA™ holders must complete and file 16 continuing education credit hours every 2 years. Kaplan offers over 50 online CE courses that can be used to satisfy BFA CE credits. 

Fulfill these credits through the Total Access CE for CFP® Certification Renewal Library (you do not have to be a CFP® professional to leverage this library) or, if you hold an insurance license, you can select your state and double-dip your CE credits.
